Something strange happens when adults pick up Lego in a meeting room. Conversations open up. Ideas that wouldn't survive a slide presentation become visible. People who don't usually speak in meetings start contributing freely. It looks like a quirk, but it's actually a well-researched methodology, and it works because the act of building something with your hands changes how you think.

Lego Serious Play uses the bricks as a structured tool for problem-solving, strategic planning, decision-making, team building and change management. The sessions look fun on the surface and produce serious results underneath.

Each session is facilitated and built around a specific goal: working through a strategic question, building team alignment, exploring a complex problem, kicking off a change initiative. Length varies based on the goal, from a few hours to a full day.

We deliver Lego Serious Play in person in Perth, and adapt it for remote teams using virtual platforms with individual kits sent to participants. If you want to build internal capability, we also train team members to become certified LSP Facilitators.

His experience in Agile project management across multiple organisations and recommendations in terms of its application to our Branch was insightful and practical. The work done by Marcus from Twenty2 Collective has set the Branch up for delivering higher quality and timely projects for our key stakeholders. It has been invaluable."

"The diagnostic was eye opening. Twenty2 helped us understand exactly where our Product Owners were struggling and why, and then built a program that addressed the real issues rather than generic ones."

The reason it works isn't really about the Lego. It's about bypassing the way people normally communicate in meetings. Instead of debating ideas verbally, where confident voices tend to dominate, everyone builds their answer to a question and then explains what they've built.

Quieter team members contribute as much as louder ones. Ideas that would have been dismissed in conversation get explored properly. Hidden assumptions become visible. It's particularly effective in creative or innovation-focused environments, but we've seen it work in industries you wouldn't expect, including mining and energy.

A session typically delivers:

  • Stronger communication and trust between team members

  • New ideas and perspectives that wouldn't have surfaced otherwise

  • A practical way to explore complex problems

  • Greater alignment on strategic questions

  • Tools for managing change and supporting innovation

  • The option to train internal facilitators

We run Lego Serious Play sessions throughout the year and can also build it into broader engagements like strategic planning or team building workshops. Pricing depends on length, group size and format.

Twenty2 Collective is Perth-based and delivers Lego Serious Play to teams across WA in a wide range of industries.

FAQ

Common questions

What is Lego Serious Play?

A well-researched, facilitated methodology where everyone builds their answer to a question and then explains it, surfacing ideas and alignment that wouldn't come out of a normal discussion.

How long is a session?

It varies with the goal, from a few hours to a full day, and is built around a specific outcome like a strategic question, team alignment or kicking off change.

Can it be run remotely?

Yes. We deliver it in person in Perth and adapt it for remote teams using virtual platforms with individual Lego kits sent to participants.

Why does building with Lego help?

It bypasses the usual meeting dynamic where confident voices dominate, so quieter team members contribute as much as louder ones and more ideas surface.

Who is it for?

Teams working through something complex: a strategic question, alignment, or a change initiative. It can also be built into broader planning or team-building engagements.
